The four passport checks in Mauritania, I've done. The four kilometers through no-man's also. The first pass inspection by the police at the Mauritanian border post, too. I am standing 20 meters from the barrier, then I'm in Mauritania.
But a control is still coming ... by the "Gendarmerie".
Der Gendarm vermisst mein Visum. Er spricht nur Arabisch und Franzoesisch. Mein Reisepass bleibt erstmal liegen. Meine beiden Rad-Freunde erhalten ihren Stempel und koennen rein ins Land.

The "Gendarm" miss my visa. He speaks only Arabic and French. My passport is left untouched. Both of my cycling friends will receive their stamp and can enter into the contry.
Nach fuenf Minuten ruft einer meinen Namen. Er scheint eine Art "Anfuehrer" zu sein und spricht Englisch. Ich soll ihm folgen, weiss aber nicht warum und wohin. Um ein Visum zu bekommen?

After five minutes someone is calling my name. He seems to be a kind of "leader" and speaks English. I follow him, but does not know why and where. To get a visa?
Er fragt mich, warum ich zu Fuss ueber die Grenze komme. Ich erklaere ihm, dass ich mit dem Rad unterwegs bin. Das soll ich holen. Er wirkt sehr entschieden und bestimmend; laeuft zuegig zurueck zur Polizei, der ersten Kontrolle des mauretanischen Grenzpostens. Ich komme kaum dazu, ihm irgendetwas zu erklaeren.

He asks me why I'll walk over the border. I tell him that I'm traveling by bicycle. I'm supposed to get it. He is very decisive and determinative, timeliness runs back to the police, the first inspection of the Mauritanian border post. I hardly have time to explain anything to him.
Er gibt meinen Reisepass einem der Polizisten und geht zurueck. Der Polizist bittet mich freundlich aber entschieden, den Grenzposten zu verlassen. Es gibt kein Visum an der Grenze nach Mauretanien. Ich muesste nach Rabat.
Ich bin wieder im Niemandsland!

He gave my passport one of the policemen and goes back. The policeman asked me kindly, but decided to leave the border. It is not possible to get any visa at the border of Mauritania. I need to go to Rabat.

Mein Traum - siehe frueheren Blog - wurde also letztlich tatsaechlich wahr. Ich bin beide Male fast durch und gehe dann doch zurueck. Weder im Traum noch in der Wirklichkeit gelange ich zu dem Ort, an den ich will \ wollte.

Ich radle nun also zurueck durch die einsame und schoene Wueste in Richtung Europa, da ich mit Gott abgemacht hatte, dass ich nach Portugal gehe - Go to Portugal - wenn die Grenzer mich nicht nach Mauretanien lassen.

So I cycle back through the lonely and beautiful desert towards Europe, because I had agreed with God that I'm going to Portugal - Go to Portugal - if the guards did not let me to Mauritania.
Wahrscheinlich suche ich mir in Dakhla einen Bus nach Agadir, radle die Kueste entlang ueber Casablanca und Rabat nach Tanger oder Ceuta und dann ueber Spanien, Portugal und Frankreich nach Deutschland. Bis Mai 2010 habe ich ja noch Zeit und eingeplant.

I probably take a bus to Agadir from Dakhla; cycle along the coast over Casablanca and Rabat to Tangier or Ceuta and then over Spain, Portugal and France to Germany. Until May 2010 I've still got time and scheduled.
Rad fahre ich gerade sehr langsam, da mir der Wind mit 30 km\h ins Gesicht blaest und ich seit drei Tagen leichte Magen-Darm-Probleme habe, wahrscheinlich von einem dieser Brunnen-Wasser.

I just cycle very slowly, because the wind blowing in my face at 30 km\h and for three last days I have problems with my stomach, probably from one of these water wells.
